This is the hardest environment we supply. Heat, dust, abrasion and mechanical damage all at once, and the assembly that survives is usually the one that was specified with the right protection rather than the highest alloy.
Applications and the products that suit them
| Application | Product |
|---|---|
| Hot gas ducting and extraction | Interlock hose in 321 to 800 °C |
| Abrasive powder and dust conveying | Interlock hose with sacrificial inner coil |
| Water cooling circuits to furnace panels | Braided corrugated hose in 304L with armour guard |
| Oxygen and injection lances | Braided corrugated hose in 316L, cleaned for oxygen service |
| High-pressure lubrication lines | Braided corrugated hose small bore with double braid |
| Reheat furnace duct expansion | Axial expansion joint with liner |
| Baghouse and ID fan connections | Lateral / universal joint or Axial expansion joint |
| Ladle and tundish services | Braided corrugated hose with heat protection sleeve |
Specification notes for this sector
- Armour guard and heat sleeve are standard here, not options
- Interlock in 321 for unpressurised hot gas — up to 800 °C
- Torsion from crane and manipulator handling is the commonest failure — specify swivel ends
