Every accessory on this page exists because a specific failure mode exists. None of them are decoration, and specifying the right one is usually cheaper than replacing the assembly that failed without it.

The one people skip
Bend restriction at the fitting is the least glamorous item on this list and the one that prevents the most failures. The stiffest point on any assembly is where the flexible hose meets a rigid fitting, and it is exactly where an operator will bend it. A short sleeve there costs very little and moves the failure point away from the weld.
Duplex and jacketed construction
A hose within a hose, with both acting as independent pressure carriers and sealed at each end so the media cannot mix. Three reasons to build one: keep the product hot with steam or thermal oil in the annulus; keep it cold with a vacuum in the annulus; or provide a second containment layer for a medium that must not escape. In the third case the annulus can be evacuated and monitored, which turns the assembly into an active leak-detection element rather than a passive one.
